There are so many possibilities for young people to consider when thinking about what they want to do for a career. There’s a whole wide world out there that, thanks to the Internet, is becoming more and more easily connected. People living in northeastern Pennsylvania can now work for a company that’s located across the globe in Germany or India, for example.

With so many choices, it can seem a bit overwhelming trying to decide what you want to do for your career, that’s why we’ve created this space for you to visit and learn about different careers.

Find Out What You Like, And Don’t Like

It is important that you begin doing your research, which is to say: gather as much information now as you can. Learn as much as possible about the job or career you are interested in.  It would even be helpful to learn about careers and jobs that you think you are not interested in because, what you learn, could just change your mind. Be open to learning about all kinds of careers. Don’t limit your possibilities.

It’s okay to be unsure about what you want to do, and it’s just fine to change your mind; in fact, that’s what most people do.

The average American will change careers about a dozen times or so throughout their working years.  There can be many reasons why someone changes careers, just know that you can make a transition if you want to. You should never feel stuck. You do not have to commit to a career for life.  In fact, it is good to continue your education and feed your curiosity to learn new things throughout your lifetime, which will often inspire you to change your career or job.

Partners In Education recently worked with Lehigh Valley Health Network and lesson Alive on a program to introduce the wide array of jobs available in the healthcare field to middle and high school students. Schools can call about this program to arrange a presentation.
