Greater Hazleton Partners in Education is a 501 (c)(3) business education partnership incorporated in 2000. The partnership has over 20 business and education members and has been identified by former Pennsylvania Governor Rendell as “A Program of Promise”. PIE has an Executive Committee, a Board of Directors as well as an Advisory Committee. Students attending member institutions serve on a Student Advisory Committee and get an opportunity to participate in various business projects as well as meaningful career related activities. PIE provides area students, teachers and parents via Internet, Cable TV and classroom practices, unlimited information regarding the importance of career planning, career clusters and decision making. An active website entitled assists in making available video streaming tours of area businesses, shadowing experiences, opportunities for classroom speakers from the workplace as well as an opportunity to participate in integrated projects including students and the workplace. PIE is approved by the PA Department of Community and Economic Development as an Innovative Educational Program whereby businesses are eligible for Tax Credits.
Objective – Partners in Education (PIE) is a non-profit organization consisting of local business and education partners focused on ensuring that all students leave school with the academic, technical and employability skills necessary to be successful in the 21st century.
Desired results- Students leave school with the skills needed to be successful as well as an understanding of the career opportunities available in Northeastern Pennsylvania, therefore students may remain in the area to fulfill their career goals.
