This year our Girl Power In STEM event was presented in a hybrid format. Students from the Hazleton Area Academy of Sciences attended in-person while other students participated virtually. The audience included approximately 500 girls (and boys) from Hazleton Area High School and Career Center, Valley Elementary/Middle School, Freeland Elementary/Middle School, Weatherly Area High School, Crestwood, Wallenpaupack, Keystone and Red Rock Job Corps, and the Hazleton and Wilkes-Barre Equus Workforce Solutions youth program.
This year’s presenters did an amazing job sharing their personal stories and providing inspiration to tomorrow’s workforce.
A few students provided their feedback on the program. One student noted that she has enjoyed this program every year and is inspired by everyone’s stories. Another student commented that she liked the healthcare session featuring forensic nursing. She said she hadn’t known about that career and might be interested in pursuing it in the future.
